Chhath Puja

A Festival of Devotion to the Sun God & Nature

About Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja is a Hindu festival celebrated to worship the Sun God (Surya Dev) and Chhathi Maiya. It is mainly observed in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal. Devotees offer prayers and 'Arghya' to the setting and rising sun while standing in rivers or ponds.

Four-Day Rituals

1. Nahay Khay

Devotees bathe and eat only once after preparing food themselves.

2. Kharna

Fasting for a whole day and breaking it with jaggery kheer & chapati.

3. Sandhya Arghya

Offerings to the setting sun with soop, fruits, and diya.

4. Usha Arghya

Final offering to the rising sun at dawn, ending the fast.

“सूर्य देव को अर्घ्य देने से जीवन में ऊर्जा, स्वास्थ्य और समृद्धि का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त होता है।”
“Offering Arghya to the Sun God brings blessings of energy, health, and prosperity into one’s life.”
